AMERICAN Grammy-winning singer Regina Belle was the surprise guest artiste at the National Commercial Bank's (NCB's) Pinnacle Awards Ceremony held at the Wyndham Kingston Hotel, St Andrew, on Saturday night.

The function was held to laud the bank's top performing employees for the Financial Year 2010/2011 and was under the theme 'Celebrating Excellence'.

When the singer walked on stage the hotel ballroom the approximately 400 guests erupted in screams and howls.

"I'm so happy to be performing for the biggest bank in Jamaica," she said, before opening with A Whole New World, her Grammy-winning collaboration with R&B singer Peabo Bryson from the Disney's Aladdin.

The organising team of the awards ceremony had kept Belle's performance a secret until the ceremony, having met her at the Norman Manley International Airport the day before and sneaked her into the Wyndham Hotel, where she stayed.

"Y'all remember my first single when my hair was off to one side like I just came out of the ocean," she joked before performing Show Me The Way.

Other hit songs included If I Could, Make It Like It Was, Baby Come To Me and So Many Tears.

The all-white decor, with touches of silver and low lights, was spectacular.

During dinner, and prior to Belle's surprise appearance guests were treated to performances by Knollis King — the second-place winner of the 2011 NCB Retail Talent Fever Competition. Selmor Reid, the third place winner in the same competition, also took to the stage bringing back memories of the 1970s with his outfit of Afro wig, shiny shirt, retro pants and platform shoes.

Over 30 awards were presented to employees throughout the bank's group, with some of the top award winners: Gracian Gordon, retail banking division as Direct Sales Agent of the Year; Tracy-Ann Reboe of the Duke Street Branch as Business Development Representative of the Year; Glenroy Morgan, Portmore Branch as Business Banker of the Year and Janet Reid of the St James Street Branch, as Personal Banker of the Year. Christopher Hall of Card Services Division was named Merchant Sales Representative of the Year; Stephanie Channer, NCB Capital Markets Top Client Relations Officer and Anntonette Cowan-Palmer, NCB Insurance Company Top Insurance Advisor. The Branch of the Year is Duke Street Branch, with Leroy Harding as Branch Manager.
