Happy New Year and welcome to our Cumbia 101 Crash Course for Absolute Beginners in Houston.

Need to get ready for a Quince or Wedding? They are playing Cumbia music and you need to learn fast? How about taking our Cumbia Crash Course! This is an effective way to learn how to dance in just a few hours!

This course is an easy-to-follow, fun, and effective way for brand new students and ultra beginners. We will teaching you the fundamental footwork and turns of Cumbia dancing. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn the basics of Cumbia and impress your friends on the dance floor.

Singles and couples welcome. You don’t need to bring a dance partner, and if you do, you can stay together. No dancing experience required.

Remember to register online and save! It helps us keep the class balanced so everyone has a practice partner.

COURSE SCHEDULE

7:00-7:15pm: Check-in / Intro and foundations of Cumbia Dancing.

8pm: Beginner Cumbia figures, turns, and footwork.

9pm: Social combinations and review.

10pm: Social dancing and practica till 11:30p.

SYLLABUS

Level 101: Learn the basic steps and variations. foward / backward / around the room travels, side turns, In and out turns, alternating turns, principles of leading and following, principles of timing, body movement, easy social figures and basic combinations (part 1). Perfect for Absolute Beginners.

Level 102: Review the basics. Side and back footwork variations. In and Out turns variations, Double turns, more leading and following tips, timing exercises, easy social figures and basic combinations (part 2) A little of Tejano. Perfect for Beginners +

Level 101 is for brand new students or anyone wanting to review the foundations.

Level 102 is for returning beginner students. Keep learning more techniques. Cumbia has so many moves, it is impossible to cover them all in just one crash course.
